Episode review: episode 9 "Honset Apple"

Welcome back to the official website for the Pony Press News Journal! In this article, I will be reviewing episode 9 of season 7 "Honest Apple." Let's start with how the plot set up!

It started with Spike and Rarity putting up posters all around Ponyville for her upcoming fashion competition.

She then proceeds to talk to Pinkie Pie about it and she talks about the judges, Photo Finish, Hoity Toity, and Applejack. Applejack then hears about it and, at first, she declines. After some consideration, though, she decides to accept Rarity's offer and it goes down hill from there. Now it's time for the review!

I'm really having problems giving this episode a rating.

I would first like to point out that the randomness of Rarity's guitar solo was the best Rarity moment ever! Aanother thing that Rarity did that I enjoyed was what she did on Applejack with her friend. When Rarity's thinking (which is rare, pun intended), she can really outsmart anypony around her!

Another thing I enjoyed was the fact that they made Applejack like Simon Cowell, where he didn't care about your feelings and said what was on her mind!

The things I didn't like involved Applejack, Rarity, and the contestants. Let's start with Applejack.

The thing that annoyed me with her is the fact that she can be angered so easily, proven by one of Rarity's friends. That and her honesty have always been the two reasons I've never liked her too much. That was just about it for lucky Applejack, now it's time for Rarity.

Rarity's crying appeared again in this episode, which lowered it's rating like Forever Filly. Finally, she just seemed to be on edge the entire episode and it annoyed the living crap out of me. Now time for the last two issues: the contestants and the episode itself.

The contestants all had something that annoyed me or even bothered me and I'm going to talk about that now.

Inky Rose's expressionless face and her fashion sense just, for some reason I don't understand, annoyed me a little bit.

Lily Lace reminded me of today's society, which didn't just annoy me, but it actually bothered me. The biggest problem with her was the fact that her voice was SO annoying it wasn't funny.

And finally, Starstreak didn't have enough lines compared to everypony else, which annoyed me because they gave Lily Lace almost an ENTIRE EPISODE of dialogue for a side character!

Now even though the characters are done, the episode itself isn't. Let's get into that.

I would first like to point out that almost nothing impressed me about this episode at all. Second of all, I just can't think of anything too positive about this episode, which has only happened once, that episode being All Bottled Up.

I can't really think of anything else that I would like to say except my rating for this episode. I would have to rate this episode a 2/10 just because I can't think of anything positive about it.

That's all I can think about for now! As always, I'll show you all the ratings for this season so far.

  1. Celestial Advice: 8/10
  2. All Bottled Up: 0/10
  3. Flurry of Emotions: 8/10
  4. Rock Solid Friendship: 8/10
  5. Fluttershy Leans In: 8/10
  6. Forever Filly: 4/10
  7. Parental Glideance: 9/10
  8. Hard To Say Anything: 8/10
  9. Honest Apple: 2/10

That's it for now, I hope you stay Brony my friends!
