Episode review: episode 8 "Hard To Say Anything"

I'm back with the eighth episode of season 7 for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In this article, I will do my normal break-down of Hard To Say Anything, the latest MLP episode.

The episode starts with Apple Bloom painting the barn at Sweet Apple Acres. While she is doing that, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo arrive with some of the costumes from a recent talent show. While the Cutie Mark Crusaders are going thru all the costumes, an apple bumps Apple Bloom's hoof, after which she realizes that Big McIntosh has been making a lot of apple delivery trips to Starlight's village (we really need to name this dang village), so when Big Mac starts to leave, the Cutie Mark Crusaders jump into the apple cart all the way to Starlight's village.

When the Cutie Mark Crusaders arrive at Starlight's village, they watch Big Mac talk to Sugar Belle and they realize that Big Mac has a crush on Sugar Belle, of which is confirmed after they talk to Big Mac. After the group jokes about the love potion featured in season 2, (dang these ponies have a good memory since it was estimated that 3 real life years equals 8 Equestrian years) they decide to use some methods from fairy tails. Before I review the episode, let me say how "great" that idea was and turned out. Wow.

Now it's finally time to review this episode.

First of all, being a big fan of Canterlot Radio, I have to say this for most of the last few minutes because it was meant for this scenario: "Someone please burn my eyes!" Yes, he actually said that once about something involving Big Mac and I think I said that when I saw the thumbnail on Youtube.

But to be serious, I found myself somehow enjoying this episode's antics, including the reference to the love potion, I found that more amusing than it probably was.

Another thing I enjoyed was the fact that they just TRASHED Justin Bieber! That is up there in the top 10 greatest moments of the entire series, it was so funny!

I honestly this episode was mostly predictable with things such as how all the fairy tales references would end up and when, spoiler alert, Sugar Belle rejects both of them after the song. The most predictable thing was when, again, spoiler alert, they end up becoming a couple (everyone probably saw that one coming), though I didn't see the fact that the Cutie Mark Crusaders would end the episode helping Feather Bangs coming.

Now it's time to give this episode a numbered rating. Oh, dear.

This episode is really hard to rate considering it was great but predictable, so I give it an 8/10 just because of, again, predictability.

So that wraps up this brief review because this episode was, like the last few weeks', very simple yet fun. So as always I have all of my ratings for season 7 below!

  1. Celestial Advice: 8/10
  2. All Bottled Up: 0/10
  3. Flurry of Emotions: 8/10
  4. Rock Solid Friendship: 8/10
  5. Fluttershy Leans In: 8/10
  6. Forever Filly: 4/10
  7. Parental Glideance: 9/10
  8. Hard To Say Anything: 8/10

Season 7 average: rounds up to 7
