Episode review: episode 6 " Forever Filly"

Welcome back to the website Bronies! In this article, I am going to review the latest episode of My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic, Forever Filly.

NOTE: Before I watched this episode, I got a really bad sunburn that slightly affected the overall rating, but it wasn't enough to affect it by a point.I also go into more detail because of the weirdness of the episode, so be prepared for more spoilers than usual.

The episode starts with Sassy Saddles trying to get the Canterlot Boutique ready for the transition from Winter to Spring in a frantic rush. While cleaning up the Boutique, Rarity finds a picture of her and Sweetie Belle and starts to miss her. After the theme song and a quick commercial break, we see the Cutie Mark Crusaders riding a slate of rock down a hill all the way to their latest client, Chipcutter, get his Cutie Mark by making a sculptor of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

When the Cutie Mark Crusaders come back to their treehouse, a filly arrives with a problem, but before the Cutie Mark Crusaders can start helping her, Rarity barges into the treehouse to announce that she is going to hang out with Sweetie Belle for the rest of the day. Despite Sweetie Belle's anxiety, she agrees to go with Rarity for a day of bonding. Rarity then takes her to three different things that Sweetie Belle, only to learn that that was the past and that Sweetie Belle likes different things now then she did as a young filly and that is the basis for the entire episode. Yup, that was what they wasted 22 minutes on. Without credits. The only breaks being commercials. With one third of the episode being Rarity crying.

Now time for my review.

Let's start from the beginning on, starting with before the theme. The first problem with this episode is the fact that Sassy Saddles' freaking out kinda annoyed me a little bit. Then in less than a scene later, Rarity starts crying because of something, of which her crying sound annoyed me a little bit more.

Then after the theme, the best part of the entire episode happened: the Cutie Mark Crusaders rode down a hill on a big slate of rock, which wasn't even an amazing scene.

Later on in the episode when Sweetie Belle hangs out with Rarity, those scenes where not done real well just because Rarity was just bent on Sweetie Belle liking the things she did as a filly (she should've known better than that!) The last part that I really enjoyed was Sweetie Belle cracking the whip on Rarity and saying that she didn't like the things she used to like and that if Rarity didn't know her, then she would just leave. I enjoyed that about as much as if Trixie turned into an evil monster while arguing with everypony she met for 22 minutes. That isn't much, but it's still on the list.

The last thing I would like to talk about, and I think everyone will agree with me on this, is the fact that they completely disregarded the fact that people worked on this episode by not giving credit where credit is due, no matter what people thought about the episode. Really Hasbro, really? This is the first incident (using the U.S. premiere as the basis) of something being done like this. I found this not just irritating, but also just plain insulting to all the people who made this episode happen. For God's sake, whoever thought this would be a good idea should get their butt chewed or just plain fired! If the person who did this reads this article for whatever reason, you should be ashamed of yourself, you're just as bad as rotten milk! This didn't just bother me, but it angered me to see someone do such a horrendous act! That removed A LOT of my interest in this episode.

So what number do I give it? If they would've added credits to the episode, I would've given it a 6/10, but since some idiot decided to remove the credits, I give it a 4/10 overall.

So that ends what I think of this episode and as always, I have the ratings for every episode in the U.S. so far and the average rating for Season 7 so far.

  1. Celestial Advice: 8/10
  2. All Bottled Up: 0/10
  3. Flurry of Emotions: 8/10
  4. Rock Solid Friendship: 8/10
  5. Fluttershy Leans In: 8/10
  6. Forever Filly: 4/10

Season 7: 6/10

So it looks like Season 7 is going to stay in the green for another week for the U.S. I'm planning on watching the episodes early if I have the time and writing the articles then and then releasing them on the day that they are released in the U.S., so it will seem like I watched it when you did even though I didn't. One more thing to note before I leave is that I'm sorry for such a late article. I waited most of the day to fly over a city in a plane, so that's why this article is so late. Also, make sure you watch tomorrow's 50th follower/ 10th episode special for the show. I'm done rambling about stuff on this article and I have one last thing to say, stay Brony my friends! Bye!
