Episode review: episode 5 " Fluttershy Leans In"

So episode 5 has premiered in the U.S., which means I'm back to review the latest episode in the U.S.

I want to talk about two things: 1. I'm going to talk about episodes when they are released in the U.S. and 2. this episode was written by G.M. Berrow, my favorite author of all time.

The episode begins with Angel practicing for Parkour competition and right at the end of his routine, he falls off a stack of books and hurts his foot, so Fluttershy goes to take him to Dr. Fauna. When Fluttershy gets there, she finds out that Dr. Fauna has been overrun by animals and asks Fluttershy for help, of which she accepts. Fluttershy then asks her friends to help out with the creation of her ultimate dream, an animal sanctuary, and that sets up the rest of the episode.

First thing I would like to talk about is that this episode actually disappointed me in the fact that this episode was not anything special. I expected more out of this episode being from G.M. Berrow or more specifically, something like The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows (which I will talk about later) where it had a lot of funny moments mixed in with enough story to keep it from being bland. This episode was rather bland with no music, no humor, and worst of all, Starlight Glimmer.

Second of all, Hasbro ruined this episode for me. The reason I say that is because by the time I saw the episode, I already knew what almost everyone had to say so the thrill of watching the episode at the same time as most other people watched it. At the time of this article, they've already shown next week's episode in Canada.

So I bet you're wondering what my final rating is, and I'm ready to answer that! Like I said, this episode was bland and spoiled by the time I watched it in the U.S., but it was still a good episode so I will give it a personal rating of 8/10 just because it wasn't anything special, but it was still a nice and simple episode.

So before I leave, I want to remind you that I will be reviewing episodes when they come out in the U.S. and I will leave you with all my ratings for Season 7 so far! Just remember, stay Brony my friends!

  1. Celestial Advice: 9/10
  2. All Bottled Up: 0/10
  3. Flurry of Emotions: 8/10
  4. Rock Solid Friendship: 8/10
  5. Fluttershy Leans In: 8/10

Season Average: 7/10

NOTE: I'm going to have a color coded system from now on! Check the key below for what the colors mean.

Green: The color green means that the episode ranked in the number range 10-6 and was an enjoyable episode.

Yellow: Yellow means that the episode was ok but not enjoyable and the episode is ranked as a 5.

Red:  Red means that this episode was ranked less than 5 and I wouldn't even give it to a volcano because it would erupt.
